Who is the provider of the University of Siegen App?

The app is offered in partnership with UniNow. UniNow is a spin-off of the University of Magdeburg and works with more than 80 universities on campus apps. As part of the collaboration, the app is available in the official corporate design of the University of Siegen.

What happens to my data?

The most important first: The data is and remains at the University of Siegen - no data is passed on to third parties. The UniNow app is TÜV-certified for data security and software quality. The annual audits and software tests cover the areas of functionality in accordance with ISO/IEC 25051:2014, data security in accordance with PPP13011B:2018, quality assurance in accordance with ISO 9001 and data protection in accordance with the legal requirements of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the BSI's IT Baseline Protection Compendium. Accordingly, the University of Siegen's white-label app is also TÜV and GDPR compliant. Data is retrieved directly from the University of Siegen's website using web scraping, without the need for an interface. All requests to the campus management system are made directly from the app, i.e. from the respective end device. This ensures that access data is only sent to the university's website and never to the UniNow servers.

Can I publish news for my organisation/initiative?

Organisations of the University of Siegen, student councils or student initiatives can manage their own profiles in the app. External organisations can't create a profile. Profiles must be approved by the Executive Department for Press, Communication, and Marketing. The following information should be sent to treude@presse.uni-siegen.de:

 

• N Name of organization/institution/initiative
• Desired display name in the app (maximum 30 characters): e.g. University of Siegen
• Desired username in the app (maximum 30 characters): e.g. @unisiegen
• Contact person with real name
• Student or professional email address

 

The UniNow team will contact you for all further steps. The Executive Department for Press, Communication, and Marketing reserves the right to reject profiles.

How can I publish news with my profile?

This can be done in the browser using the UniNow feed. It is also possible to link an existing Instagram account or integrate an RSS feed.

How do I select or deselect push notifications for individual channels?

Click on the logo of the relevant profile, select the bell, and select or deselect the relevant push notifications. You will also be prompted for the notifications you want when you subscribe to a channel.

What is the Career section of the app about?

Job vacancies can be found in the Careers section. Uninow works with a large number of companies who post job vacancies that are displayed in the app. Important: These companies do not receive any data from students.

The University of Siegen will also include all the university's job vacancies in the app - in future, jobs such as student assistants will also be available via the app.
